Can’t Say Enough About This One….

Yesterday I mistakenly posted the wrong Wattstax clip of Isaac Hayes and Shaft, but here is a trailer for the movie “Wattstax”. I have to say it again; this is one of the best black films ever made, and even though it was before my time and I’m sure most of yours, it is a perfect snapshot of the black community in the 70′s.

Richard Pryor is speaking the gospel throughout; he is not playin’.

Just found the blog and admire what you’re doing. Even rented “Shadowboxer” off your recommendation. Sorry to say, though, that movie is a mess. There are some good actors in it, but seriously — it’s crazy bad.

Good to see “Wattstax” getting attention, though. How about a little love for “Killer of Sheep”?

LOL! That’s the thing about Shadowboxer, people either admire it’s content or hate it intensly, no in-between. Admittedly, it is not the best film, but I loved it’s courage to be different, and thought it should’ve gotten more attention. I’m like Roger Ebert, I can find admirable elements in a lot of films.

Anyhoo, I am very aware of “Killer of Sheep”, but haven’t seen it yet. I plan on it soon, and definitely want to write about it. Glad that you’re here Anonymous.

Now THAT’s funny. Welcome my Bay Area buddy. For those of you who don’t know, 73rd and International is the ummm….”urban” mecca of Oakland.
